Day 20 - Getting Back on Track

Weight - 268

Yeah!!!! I am finally on the way back down! I was so very surprised at the loss today. Last night we had a volunteer from Hospice come in to spend some time with Mom while we went bowling and out to dinner. It was a nice break. We ate at Ryan's Buffet which of course could have been the true beginning of the end. I was so surprised when I got there because it was very fat/calorie conscious friendly. Tons and tons of salad options and they even had real fat free dressing. I made a wonderful salad and even indulged in three pieces of pepperoni. I also had a tablespoon or two of crab salad and two little blocks of cheese. I had a baked potato with some fresh mushrooms. They even had sugar-free / reduced fat chocolate pudding on the dessert bar and low fat butter pecan frozen yogurt. I honestly have no clue how many fat grams I consumed but I must not have done too badly because I took the Alli and didn't have any TE's.

Today my sister and neice left for a nice relaxing few days in Erie, PA. (Where my sister lived before moving to Ohio.) I sure hope that they get some time to relax at the pool. I guess they are going to gamble a bit and go to a special place called Lilllydale, where they can do all kinds of things with psychics. Mom is having a great morning. She ate a big breakfast for her. She had almost a whole piece of french toast and an egg with cheese. The hospice aide came in today at about 9:00 AM. She is so wonderful. She changed the sheets on Mom's bed, gave her a complete bed bath and dressed her. I am always so afraid I am going to hurt her when I dress her because she is so fragile. Shortly after she was done, the massage therapist came in and Mom looked like she was in heaven. The therapist even asked if I would like a massage but I declined. Not quite ready to have strangers manipulating my body. Maybe the skinny me would have taken her up on the offer but "not so much" now. I will be running to Wal-mart after my son and my nephew-in-law get up so that I can get her prescription. We will have the whole family here over the weekend so I need to make sure we have enough food for everyone. Keep in mind, I have a HUGE family - my brother, Bob and his wife, Belinda; my sister, Vonne and her son Donnie (her husband will stay at home and her daughter, Drissy, is the one who stays here to help with Mom); my brother, Tom; Sue (who lives here); me and my son and my neice's husband. It will be quite a family gathering. I am going to make sure that I get food for them; They are big eaters! But, I am also going to make sure that I get food that will allow me to keep myself full so that I am not tempted to sneak the "good stuff" here and there.

It will be a long two days that I taking care of Mom by myself, but as I have said in past posts, I am glad that I am able to finally help. It makes Mom feel good (and me too!).
