Well, well, well ... I am sure that most folks have thought I have given up on the whole weight loss thing. In part that might be true, but the strategies that I had been using must have become ingrained because I have only gained 2 pounds since I last posted (over 3 years ago).
To update on my family life, my oldest son has graduated and is awaiting his boot-camp start date for the Marines. I have a flurry of emotions regarding this decision that he has made. I am so very proud as a mom that he is going to serve our country, but I am also apprehensive after watching the Marine boot-camp videos. He too is struggling with a minor weight issue and needs to drop about six pounds before he does his PT test to head to boot-camp. I am hoping that if I get myself back in gear that he will be able to reap the benefits as well.
My younger son, the baseball player, is now a junior in high school. He has spent the last two summers playing baseball in Ohio. The summer of 09 he played with the Ohio Warhawks out of Reynoldsburg, OH and last summer he played with Team EAS. He has also played with several travel teams here in Florida in the fall: Southwest Florida Baseball, South Florida Titans, and Team Boombah. He does this to keep himself throwing during the off-season. He has also taken up swimming with the high school team to help him maintain and tone his core. High school baseball tryouts start in about 3 weeks and I am hoping he is ready. On January 16th and 17th he will be attending a special invite only showcase where he will have the opportunity to throw in front of nearly 20 division I scouts. We are hoping this might lead to a scholarship. He is dating a wonderful girl who allows him the privilege of being himself and understands that because sports and school take up a lot of his time that doesn't mean that he doesn't care about her. It is great for me to see him so happy!
As for me, I am still teaching at the middle school level but have moved to an 8th grade science position. I like it but the stress of science fair is tremendous. Once science fair is over and the FCAT testing is done, then I can relax.
I am considering using Alli again but will probably start without it and see what kind of results I get. I would like to try without for several reasons. Firstly, it is rather expensive. And, I know it inhibits the absorption of calcium and with me growing older, I need all the help in regards to bone strength I can get. I will try to update at least every other day or so.

Still Losing
I am so so sorry that I have been soooooooooooooooooo long in posting. My life has been a zoo lately with my two teenage boys and school. I am down to 248 pounds ... yipee ... almost half way to my goal! I have been using the alli program along with weight watchers pretty regularly. The weekends are tough because we are on the road alot with my son's travel baseball team. I'll add more in a bit ... but I wanted to let you all know that I haven't bailed on the weight loss struggle.
Ok, I have a few minutes before I need to hit the hay. You are probably wondering just how busy can her live really be that she can' t spare a few minutes to post a quick blog. Let me share with you how my day tends to run. I am up at 5:30 and out the door by 5:45 to run, for lack of better terms, the father of my boys 30 minutes (halfway to work) to meet his ride. Since the bozo can't seem to keep his alcoholism at bay it seems that everyone suffers but him. I arrive back at home at about 6:45 and then run my older son to school. Back at the house by 7:00 for a quick shower and to get ready for work. Out the door by 7:30 for school. (On days when I have to substitute for our morning tutorial program, my day starts earlier and I head right to school after dropping off my older son.) I teach all day, run home to throw dinner in the crock pot and have to leave again at 4:30 to drive again 30 miles both ways to get the x from work. I arrive back at the house at about 5:15 to run my younger son to baseball practice. Leave baseball at 6:45 to pick up the older son from football practice. We arrive home sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. I quickly throw dinner from the crock pot onto plates and they scarf. I then fix my dinner that is usually different to help in my weight loss. We settle down near 9:00 for a nightly session of fighting over homework, etc. I straighten up the kitchen and get clothes ready for the next day. Then it is off to bed.
My schedule is so ridiculous that I have turned off our cable TV because we are never .. and I mean NEVER at home. I might watch the news in the morning or late night but that hardly warranted the $40+ for something we rarely used. So we just watch the three stations that we get without cable and we do fine.
So ... I hope you all understand why my posts are few and far between lately. I will try my best to post more often if I can.
Thanks for your understanding!!

I think I need to go clothes shopping!
The good news is ... I have lost even more weight. The bad news is ... I need to get clothes. I was trying to wait until I hit the fifty pound loss mark but I am really struggling to find enough outfits to wear for the week. Luckily, I kept some of my jeans from my skinnier days so I am good in that department but dress clothes for work .,.. that is another story.
People are really beginning to notice that I am dropping weight, especially when I am wearing jeans. I am to the point now where I can tuck in my shirts again and feel comfortable. I was a little upset because the gym at the school was closed for the week while they were working on renovations. I did walk quite a bit on Monday when we went to a festival in our park downtown. I intentionally parked about a mile away for two reasons: It forced me to walk more than I normally would. It also made it much easier to find a parking spot. I walked from the car to the park and then walked in the park for about three hours. Then I had to walk back to the car. It was amazing how much farther that trip was on the way back.
On Saturday we went to the local rodeo here in town. I was trying the intentional parking far from the event there but it backfired when they saw the Florida State Champions emblem on the back window of the car. Evidently, the boys who went to the World Series got preferred parking at the rodeo. Of course, I had to take advantage of that for the mere fact that it was the first time something like that had ever happened to me or my boys. It made us all feel like big shots. LOL!
Hopefully the gym will be open on Monday. My son starts his fall travel baseball practice near the gym where we work out so I am hoping to walk a little during practice and then head to the gym. We'll see how things work out.

A Moment to Breathe
Ahhhhhhhhhh ... finally a moment to breathe. It seems that since we got back from the World Series (the Saturday before school started), I have been running non-stop. Between my older son's football practices and games, my younger son's conditioning after school with his teammates, and my trying to get to the gym to work-out I haven't had a moment to sit down and blog. Please forgive me.
My weight loss is going great. I have lost nine more pounds since July 17th. Keep in mind that my weight increased during the two weeks of the World Series. Eating out every night at 10:00 PM or later did wonders for my weight loss (NOT!) But since I have been back, I am back to eating healthy and taking Alli on a regular basis again.
One thing that has really helped is that I stay clear of the school cafeteria. I know they work hard to make balanced, nutritional meals for the students but most of what they make won't cut it for me. I have talked an old friend that I used to teach with when I taught elementary school into going to the gym with me. Tonight we even talked about walking on Tuesday and Thursdays when the gym isn't open. I am looking forward to losing more and more weight.
My son noticed the other morning that my clothes are getting baggy and he suggested that we go on a shopping spree for mom. I went through almost $600 at several malls getting the boys all set for school. I told them that when I hit the fifty pound loss mark, then I will go and get some new clothes. Maybe that will be a driving force to keep me working towards the skinnier me.

World Series is Over
We have stopped in St. Augustine for a few days until my sister flies out to Ohio. It is nice to sit and relax without worrying about batting practice and the such. I will be starting back on my weight loss plan on Sunday. Hopefully it won't take long to get back on track.
Thank you Veronika for the wonderful comments on my son's team's blog. They really enjoyed watching the comments as they came in.

So So Sorry
I am so sorry that I have not posted in a decade or two. You see, I am the proud Mama of a Florida State Champion Dixie Youth Baseball player. This weekend (as a matter of fact today at 4:00) we begin playing in the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!! You can check in our blog at http://okeejrdballstars.blogspot.com/
Feel free to scroll down to the bottom of the posts and find the post titled Timmy and leave him a good luck comment. You might just add that you are a friend of mom's. The boys are competing to see how many comments they can get, who gets one from the furthest point, and who gets the most from different places. They are really enjoying themselves.
Opening ceremonies were yesterday and it was quite amazing. Fireworks and fans everywhere. The boys got to post their state flag along the outfield fence. It was quite an experience for 13 year old boys. One I am sure they'll never forget.
Unfortunately, my weight loss plan has kind of taken back seat to all that has been going on. Between having to go back to Ohio and finish up my stay with my mom. Driving back down to Muscle Shoals, AL for the World Series, my car breaking down in Decatur and having to rent a car .... FAT IS GOOD RIGHT NOW! lol! I'll get back on track when my life resumes a little normalcy again. If that ever happens. Thanks for all your support for me, my mother and my son. You guys are all wonderful.

State Tournament - Day 1
Our boys played a great game. It started out slowly but we blew them away in the fifth inning. I was very proud of all the boys but especially my little guy. He pitched a good game and had good defense behind him for those that did hit the ball. We ended up winning 14 - 9. You can read the details of the game at our baseball blog. The link is on the side bar of this blog. Feel free to leave words of encouragement for the team. Tomorrow we face the team that we beat in the best 2 of 3 in our district tournament. They beat the team from West Volusia and we beat the team from San Antonio. Both of us advance to the winner's bracket and face off at 3 PM tomorrow.
As you can see, I have not updated my weight table and/or chart because I refused to even bring my scale with me to the tournament. Not a priority this weekend. LOL! I'll keep you posted on your progress throughout the tournament. Wish us luck. (once again!)
